About Kexuan Zhao





Kexuan Zhao (b. 2000) is a Chinese artist from China, currently based in Shanghai. She received her BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design and subsequently earned her MA in Art Education from Columbia University. She currently works as an art teacher at an International High School in Shanghai.

Working with watercolor, digital media, and colored pencils, Zhao's artwork explores Eastern imagery and the transformations of all things in existence. Through religious and historical narratives, as well as personal emotions, her work demonstrates how humans rebuild their vitality when facing life's predicaments. In her future works, she aims to explore more mythological narratives and themes about the origins of life.
