I remain awake,
While you slumber in peace.
Gazing at the moon-like sun rising within ten fingernails.
In the scorching heat you can’t bear,
Athena takes up her bow and shoots down the sun,
For the sake of the people,
For the sake of love and sanity.
But Athena, like all mortals, makes mistakes,
Forgetting her own limitations.
What must this beautiful goddess sacrifice,
To attain a vast world?
Should I become a determined and dauntless Hou Yi?
We cannot transform into completely different beings.
Therefore, my dear,
Both you and I are powerless,
Only able to gaze at the ten suns,
Immersed in the river of dreams,
Rising high, then descending.
